Michele Pouncey-Orr
Fabric Technician and Textile Artist
With a degree in Printmaking and an MA in Textile Practice I have over 20 years experience of working across various textile and print related projects which have included creating bespoke fabrics and knitted props for TV and film. As a facilitator and educator I’ve written and delivered workshops suitable for all ages and levels of experience. I also create mixed media textile and print artworks for exhibitions and private commissions.
ARTWORK
I use my personal archive as a reference which consists of collections of remnants, vintage threads, fabrics and paper. I rework these elements using traditional print, sewing techniques, collage and drawing. This cyclical process of material, process and thought evolve as assemblages, collages and installations of varying textures, marks and colour combinations.

I’ve worked on a variety of large scale projects for film and TV some of which are showcased here. If you want to discuss any bespoke fabric dying, printing or knitting projects please contact me. The skills I have acquired are transferable to larger costume pieces and galleries and museums where conservation work is required. I can work with you to produce an exact match to your requirements. I have also supported artists and students by creating elements for a bigger piece, I work from my home studio in Manchester but am able to travel if needed.
